Bamboo LineScape | 竹線景

“Bamboo LineScape” is a linear bamboo corridor elevated approximately 3 meters above the ground, situated atop a small hill within an undulating bamboo forest. While “Bamboo Dino” was shaped in response to the natural contours of the terrain, Bamboo LineScape was conceived to rise above it—to create a vantage point that offers an expansive view of the entire grove, combining the verticality of bamboo with a strong, orthogonal horizontality.

Structurally, living bamboo culms were used directly as columns, and horizontal beams were arranged in a grid pattern between them to form a level floor and roof. The joints between bamboo members were constructed by hand using a fabric tape and rope technique we developed specifically.

The approach to Bamboo LineScape begins at a distance, with a gently sloping bridge that ascends slowly between the standing bamboo culms, providing a gradual and immersive transition into the elevated space.

起伏のある竹林の中にある小高い丘の上に，さらに地面から約3 mほど持ち上げられた直線状の竹構造の回廊である。竹古竜が地形の起伏を活かした造形であるのに対し，竹線景では竹林全体を見渡せるような高い位置に，竹の垂直性と直交する水平性を組み込むことを試みた。
構造については，自生する竹をそのまま柱として用い，竹と竹の間に井桁状に梁組を設けることで水平な床と屋根を構築した。竹同士の接合部は我々が開発した布テープとロープによるハンドメイド接合部である。
また，竹線景までのアプローチは，少し離れた場所から同様に自生する竹の間にブリッジをかけ，ゆるい勾配をゆっくりと上っていくようにした。

注：Bamboo LineScapeは永井による「竹線景」の英訳であり，公式な英語名称ではありません。
