Veterinarian N house | N獣医の家

A combined residence and animal hospital, with the building placed at the center of the site and surrounded by a dog run and garden. The structure includes sufficient bearing wall, presenting few seismic design challenges. However, the second floor features a large double-height atrium space, except for the centrally located kitchen and bathroom area. A visually distinctive steel truss provides wind resistance and serves as an architectural feature.
A steel perimeter fence wrapped in expanded metal forms a truss structure composed of slender braces and steel members. At several points, it is connected to the main building with horizontal members to restrain out-of-plane movement.

敷地の中央に建物を配置し，その周囲にドッグランや庭が取り巻く構成の動物病院併用住宅。建築物は室内にじゅうぶんな壁量を持つため耐震上の課題は多くはないが，2階は中央の水回りや台所を除いて階高の高い吹抜け上の空間になっており，耐風のための鉄骨トラスが意匠的にも特徴となっている。建築物外周を囲むエキスパンドメタルで覆われた鉄骨塀は細いブレースと鉄骨の組み合わせによるトラスとなっており，ところどころで水平部材により建築物本体と接続し，面外の動きを拘束している。
