Eagle Woods House

A private residence situated on a site covered with trees, resembling a forest. The first floor follows the natural topography, incorporating level differences that lead gradually to the second floor through a sequence of skip floors. Because the design features numerous small floor plates appearing to float in the air, the transmission of lateral forces posed a challenge. To address this, we established a rule that each independent floor must be supported, at its lower level, by at least one shear wall in each principal direction.

Elements such as overhead walls above level changes and stair landings were fully utilized as shear-resisting components, ensuring the transfer of lateral forces. This approach allowed the creation of a visually continuous and unified space, despite its segmentation by multiple level changes.

木々に覆われた森のような敷地の中に立つ個人住宅。１階は地形を活かしたレベル差を持ち，連続するスキップフロアによってだんだんと２階にあがっていくような構成となっている。小さな床が多数空中に浮いているような構成であるため水平力の伝達が難しく，各独立した床をその下部で少なくとも各方向1枚以上の耐力壁で支持することをルールとした。段差の上下にある垂れ壁や階段の踊り場など，ちょっとした要素をせん断力を伝達する要素として徹底的に活用し，段差によって分節されながらも視界の通り一体的な空間を生み出している。
