Living in a Bamboo Grove |

This was a competition proposal for a private rental accommodation facility on Awaji Island. The concept focused on utilizing the island’s abundant bamboo resources and addressing the issue of neglected bamboo groves by proposing a bamboo-based stay experience. The primary structure was designed as a hybrid system combining conventional timber framing with round bamboo columns used to support the roof and vertical loads.
A simple bamboo storage and treatment area was planned on-site, allowing not only for bamboo use during construction but also for the easy replacement and maintenance of bamboo components after completion. The proposal passed the first screening and advanced to the interview stage, but was unfortunately not selected for implementation.
